If it were as simple as attaching your personal information to your keys so they could be returned when found…..

Problem: If someone knows your personal information or how to locate you, they can also use your keys to get into your home, car, office, etc.

Solution: The ChangeRing’s lost key retrieval system called Boomering SMS* is a brand new way of tracking down lost keys using SMS/text messaging.
We do this in a way that protects the identity of the owner of the keys so that his/her property is not compromised.

- Every ChangeRing comes with a unique Boomering SMS code (serial number) that is attached to the key ring on a durable metal tag (we chose a military dog tag in honor of our troops and in acknowledgment that our country is at war).

- The ChangeRing owner “activates” or registers his/her ChangeRing by entering the Boomering SMS code, cellphone number, and email on our website.

- If the owner loses his/her keys, the tag on the ChangeRing instructs the finder to text the Boomering SMS code to our short-code.

- We then “bridge” and anonymous text conversation (through our short-code) between the owner and the “finder” so that a return of the keys can be facilitated.

For every ChangeRing purchased, we donate to a charity of the owner’s choice. While "activating" your ChangeRing's Boomering SMS lost key retrieval system (this happens after you receive it in the mail), you will be asked to choose from a list of charities. Because The ChangeRing is not nonpartisan, we must stress that the charities are not associated with The ChangeRing or Barack Obama. We are not trying to represent otherwise or use the charities to promote The ChangeRing or Barack Obama.

Not only is The ChangeRing's package made from recycled materials, the packaging itself is designed to be reused. We partnered with the United States Postal Service to develop a reusable packaging program.
A return mailing label (postage paid) is included with your ChangeRing. Leave your signature behind so that others after you know where the package has been. The ChangeRing will be repacked in New York City and sent out again to continue its life-cycle.
